Minutes of Meeting

Meeting I

Meeting with Faculty Members

Date : 28 August 2021

Venue: Conference Hall, ILS Law College Pune

Agenda:

Admissions: It was resolved to commence the admission process for students of III – V B.A. LL.B. and III LL.B. from 30 August 2021. For admission into DTL and DLL&LW programs, it was further resolved that the admission into them shall commence as soon as the result for the B.Com program is declared.

Conduct of classes: It was resolved that each teacher will conduct a full 48 minute lecture in online mode and will keep their camera on at all times. It was further resolved that all teachers (visiting and full-time) will conduct the lectures from the college premises only. After the commencement of lectures, teachers shall not take leave for any reason except medical grounds.

Attendance Policy: It was resolved that a student will be eligible to have attendance credited for a lecture only if they have attended the entire lecture. It was further resolved that if a student is randomly called upon to ask questions in class, and does not respond, attendance for that lecture will not be credited.

Internal Examinations: It was resolved that internal examinations for the students shall be conducted in a continuous manner for this academic year. The responsibility for creating a detailed plan for the conduct of examinations and schedule was given to Ms. Ninawari Ware.

Academic Calendar: A review of all cells, centers, and departments was undertaken and all faculties in-charge were asked to submit a plan of action for the current academic year. It was resolved that the academic calendar for the current academic year will be prepared by Dr. Tejaswini Malegaonkar.

Venue: Conference Hall, ILS Law College Pune

Agenda:

Academic and Co-Curricular Activities: It was resolved to merge the space law cell and criminal law cell with the center for public law. It was further resolved that a plan for the legal aid activities, research activities, and moot court activities shall be drawn up for the year. Dr. Suvarna Nilakh, Dr. Nitish Nawsagaray, and Dr. Deepa Paturkar respectively, took responsibility for drawing up the same.

 

Meeting III

24 September 2021

Venue: Conference Hall, ILS Law College Pune

Agenda:

Academic and Co-Curricular Activities: It was resolved that faculty mentors shall be appointed for each moot court that was allocated to students, to provide them with any academic assistance that was required. It was further resolved that a committee will be constituted under Dr. Deepa Paturkar to review the working and the selection process of the moot court society.  Ms. Ninawari Ware briefed about the proposed activities of the legal aid center for the academic year 2021-22 and Dr. Nitish Nawsagaray placed a tentative research policy for teachers and students to encourage research activities for the academic year.

Internal Examination: Ms. Ninawari Ware proposed a plan for continuous evaluation of students of III-V B.A. LL.B. and III LL.B. consisting of in class viva-voce examination, designed to inculcate public speaking skills among the students. It was resolved that this plan shall be adopted and that these viva-voce examinations shall be conducted every saturday, for a batch of 12-15 students per class per subject.

Dr. Tejaswini Malegaonkar briefed about the conduct of Intra College Negotiation Challenge. Dr. Deepa Paturkar briefed about the conduct of Raghavendra Phadnis Intra College Moot Court Competition. Mr. Rohit Bokil briefed about the preparations for the conduct of Prof. S.P. Sathe Public Memorial Lecture, and Prof. S.P. Sathe Memorial Conference.

 

Meeting IV

20 October 2021

Venue: Conference Hall, ILS Law College Pune

Agenda:

Opening the Campus for Students: Following the PMC circular about allowing students to come to campus after the end of the lockdown, it was resolved that students shall be allowed to attend classes in a staggered manner, so that the health of the students and staff remains as safe as possible. Attendance shall continue to be recorded online.

Any other Agenda:

Dr. Suvarna Nilakh informed the faculty members about the dates for the organization of the 16th Remembering Professor S.P. Sathe events.

21 February 2022

Venue: Conference Hall, ILS Law College Pune

Agenda:

University Exams and Academic Activities: Keeping in view that the SPPU announced the conduct of odd semester examinations from 02 March 2022, it was resolved that the classes and the internal examinations of the even semester were to be suspended from 22 February until the end of the exam.

Opening the Campus in Offline Mode: It was resolved that Dr. Deepa Paturkar shall prepare a schedule for opening the campus in offline mode for all students, and the schedule shall be implemented accordingly.

Agenda:

Internal Examinations: Mr. D.P. Kendre informed everyone about the new SPPU Circular which mandated that the internal exams for the even semester shall be conducted in offline mode. Accordingly it was resolved that the students shall be asked to submit handwritten assignments for the same.

Any other agenda:

Ms. Divya Mittal informed everyone that a Legal Aid Fest in association with the District Legal Aid Services Authority shall be conducted from 11-14 April 2022.

Dr. Suvarna Nilakh briefed everyone about the Prof. S.P. Sathe 16th International Conference to be held on 8-9 April 2022.

Guest Lectures Following Guest Lectures were conducted:

  1. In observance of ‘Samajik Aikya Pandhravda’ a guest lecture on ‘Idea of India of Social Unity’ was delivered by Dr. Chaitra Redkar on 4 September 2021, in online mode.
  2. Dr. Amita Dharmadhikary-Yadwadkar, Assistant professor Economics, Department of Economics Savitribai Phule Pune University took a session on ‘How to Write a Research Paper’ on 17 September 2021 in online mode.
  3. As a part of Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) project of the Election Commission of India, a talk was delivered by Mr. Dnyaneshwar Kendre, Assistant Professor ILS Law College, Pune on “Local Democracy Election” on 18 September 2021.
  4.  In observance of ‘Marathi Bhasha Sanvardhan Pandhrawada’ (Fortnight Celebration of Protection and Promotion of Marathi Language) Dr. Avinash Awalgaonkar delivered a talk on ‘Marathi Bhasha: Saundarya ani Sanvardhan’ on Friday, 28th January 2022 in online mode.
Conferences, Seminars, Workshops Following conferences, seminars, and workshops were conducted by the college:

  1. ILSCA organised a two-day webinar on the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996, held on 7th and 8th August 2021 in the online mode.
  2. ILSCA organised a two-day webinar on the International Commercial Arbitration, held on 21st and 22nd August 2021.
  3. ILSCA organised a two-day webinar on Mediation and Negotiation Techniques,held on 28th and 29th August 2021. 
  4. Remembering S.P. Sathe: 15th National Conference (Online) on ‘Role of Forensic Science in Criminal Justice System: Problems and Prospects’ was held on 30th & 31st October 2021.
  5. In pursuance of the Pan India Awareness and Outreach Programme as a part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and to commemorate 25 years of inception of NALSA, the Legal Aid Centre of ILS Law College organised a “Workshop on Overcoming Loss and Dealing with Grief” on 10 October 2021, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
  6. Post Graduate Department at ILS Law College,  in observance of International Human Rights Day organised a webinar on ‘Human Trafficking and Citizen Intervention’ on 10 December 2021.
  7. Post-graduate Department in Law, ILS Law College, Pune organized a two-day national conference on independence of judiciary & judicial accountability: contemporary challenges and solutions on 26 and 27 Feb.
  8. The Prof. S.P. Sathe 16th International Conference on Politico-Legal Dimensions of Climate Change was organized on 8-9 April 2022.
  9. ILS Law College’s Centre for International Law and PostGraduate Department in Law organized a Two Day International Conference On International Humanitarian Law And Future Warfare on 28 and 29 April 2022 in the online mode.
  10. ILS Corporate Law Cell organized a Corporate Law Colloquium 6.0 on Central Banking Digital Currencies on 15th May 2022.
Competitions Following competitions were conducted in the academic year:

  1. Raghavendra Phadnis Essay Writing, Case Comment, and Legislative Comment Competition.
  2. Post Graduate Department (LL.M), ILS Law College, Pune, in collaboration with Eastern Book Company and SCC Online organised the National BOOK CHAPTER APPRECIATION Competition  2021-22.
  3. Post Graduate Department (LL.M), ILS Law College, Pune, in collaboration with Eastern Book Company and SCC Online organised the National Level Short Case Analysis Competition, 2021-22
  4. The ILS Debating Society organized the 10th edition of the annual three day national parliamentary debate from 21st to 23rd January 2022.
  5. The Prof. S.P. Sathe 16th International Moot COurt Competition was organised from 10-12 March 2022.
  6. ILS Law College, Pune, Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) and Post-Graduate Department in Law (LL.M) organised a ‘National Legislative Drafting Competition’ during  4th to 7th April 2022, in the online mode.
  7. A district level Legal Aid Fest was organised from 11-14 April 2022, and various singing, dancing, rap, poetry competitions were organized as a part of the event.
Panel Discussions Following Panel Discussions were conducted in the academic year:

  1. On the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi and a renowned poet G. D. Madgulkar, ILS Law College, Marathi Vadsabha organised its first ever session of SWACHANDA, an open stage for all the marathi literature enthusiasts on 2nd October, in the online mode.
  2. Post Graduate Department of ILS Law College, Pune organised a panel discussion on 8th March 2022, on the occasion of Women’s day, online on the topic ‘Debating Spousal Exemption: Retention or Deletion?’
  3. Center for Public Law organised an open discussion on The Controversial Veil – Discussing the Hijab Row  on 5th April, 2022 in offline mode, at ILS Law College, Pune
