Admissions – 2015-16
We give below the Admission Procedure for admission to the two year course of LLM in the academic year 2015-16.
Any changes in the procedure, fees or any aspect of admissions will be notified on this web-site.
A. Courses
We invite applications for admissions to of LL M ( two year ) Course. The course is affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University. We offer specialization as per the university norms.
This is a credit system course (See para L below).
Classes for LL.M are held in the morning until afternoon.
B. Number of seats and reservations
- We admit 60 of students for LL.M
- We follow government rules, policies and guidelines about reservations of seats.
- If you are a Foreign National, Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or a Child of Indian Workers in Gulf & South East Asia, your admission will be processed by the Savitribai Phule Pune University and not by us. We do not have seats for NRI candidates. Others can approach the University directly. If you apply and are granted admission in these categories, we will not consider you later for admission in any other category.
C. Basis of admissions
- Admissions for ALL seats of the 1styear of LL.M are based on merit. We do not conduct entrance examination.
- Merit is calculated on the basis of the total of ALL marks in ALL subjects as shown in the mark sheet of the qualifying examination. It is not calculated on the basis of ‘best four’ or ‘best five’ or the like.
- Important: your application form cannot be considered unless you submit your mark sheet at the qualifying examination issued by the Board or the University. WE DO NOT CONSIDER
- provisional grades or marks or mark sheet of IB Board or the like,
- provisional mark sheets issued by Universities awaiting declaration of results
- transcripts
- certified true copies
- results sent in confidence
- downloaded mark-sheets, etc.
D. Time table for admissions

E. Eligibility for Admission
You must have the following qualifications to become eligible to join these courses:
- B.A.LL.B. (Five-Year law-degree Course): with minimum 40% for SC / ST candidates, and 45% in all other cases,
OR - LL.B. (Three-Year law-degree Course): with minimum 40% for SC / ST candidates, and 45% all other cases
Note 1. We cannot consider your case for admission if the Board or University giving you the certificate, diploma or degree is not recognised by the UGC or the AIU.
F. Fees
- You must carry the Demand Draft for fees at the interview. Your admission will be considered as given and completed only after you have paid fees.
- The Demand Draft for fees should be drawn on any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of “The Principal, ILS Law College” payable at Pune. If you fail to bring the Demand Draft or pay your fees at the time of interview on the same day, we will consider that you have given up your claim for admission, and will proceed to admit candidates next in the merit list.
- Fees are liable to increase during the academic year under any rules, orders or direction given from time to time by the State Government, Savitribai Phule Pune University or other authorities. In such a case, you must pay any such increase.
- You will find details of fees, payment, concessions, scholarships, and free-ships in the Prospectus.
- If you cancel your admission, we will refund fees according to University rules. In any case, you cannot get any refund if you cancel admission beyond thirty days from the commencement of your course. You will find details in the Prospectus.
- The amount of fees you pay for admission is as follows
Within Maharashtra* Rs 63,240
Outside Maharashtra* Rs 91,440
SAARC Countries: Rs 1,88,220
NRI, PIO and Foreign Nationals: Rs 3,13,700
* To know who is a candidate from within Maharashtra or one from outside Maharashtra, see para ‘K’ below.
* If you seek reservations under the SC / ST / SBC / NT / VJNT / categories, concessions are available according Schemes and Rules made by the Maharashtra Government from time to time.
G. Documents to be filed with application
- You must submit self-attested copies of following documents with your admission form. To self-attest a copy, write ‘TRUE COPY’ on a visible part of the document, and sign. If you do not submit documents, your application will not be considered.
- You must submit documents with the application form. We will not consider forms which do not have accompanying documents.
- Statement of marks of the qualifying LL.B (final)exam.
- NOTE: If your mark sheet gives grades, and the mark sheet does not indicate the formula for converting grades to marks, you must also submit a certificate or transcript of your university / institution indicating your marks as converted from your grades.
IMPORTANT: We do not give admission unless you have ORIGINAL mark-sheet of the qualifying examination issued by the Board / University. We cannot consider provisional grades or marks or mark sheet of IB Board or the like, provisional mark sheets issued by Universities awaiting declaration of results, transcripts, certified true copies, results sent in confidence, downloaded mark-sheets, and the like. - Statement of marks of SSC (Xth) or equivalent examination
- Certificate of SSC (Xth) Exam
- Statement of marks of HSC (XIIth) or equivalent examination (for graduates)
- Certificate of HSC (XIIth) Exam
- Mark sheet of graduation (if you have completed three-year LLB course)
- Degree certificate of graduation (if you have completed three-year LLB course)
- A certified copy of entry in birth-register, or school leaving certificate, if your SSC certificate (Xth or old XIth) does not have your date of birth,
- Transfer Certificate of the College you attended.
- Migration Certificate you attended, if it is affiliated to any University or Board other than Savitribai Phule Pune University or Maharashtra Higher Secondary Board. If you do not have this now, you must undertake to submit it within fifteen days from the date of your admission.
- If you seek a seat in the reserved categories,
a. Valid and subsisting caste certificate issued by appropriate authority
b. A valid and subsisting certificate from the appropriate authority that you do not belong to the Creamy Layer, if you seek admission in such sub-categories among NT, VJNT, OBC, SBC to which the creamy-layer criteria is applicable.
c. A valid and subsisting certificate issued by the Civil Surgeon or Competent Authority under the Persons with Disability Act, 1995, if you seek admission and benefits in physically handicapped category.
(Important Note for a., b., and c.: If you do not submit such certificates with the admission form, you will be considered for admission in the open category for all purposes, including for merit lists and fees) - Domicile certificate (if applicable).
H. Prospectus and Admission Form
You can obtain the admission form and Prospectus as follows:
- You can purchase after 8 June 2015 the prospectus for Rs 1100 in cash. You can collect it from College Office between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm.
- You can download admission form after 8 June 2015, complete it, and send it with a Demand Draft of Rs 1300 drawn on a nationalised bank payable at Pune in the name ‘Principal, ILS Law College’ to be sent with the downloaded and completed admission form.

I.Important
- We will not consider your application unless you have filled all details fully and truthfully, and have submitted all documents.
- If your mark sheet (of the qualifying exam) gives grades, and the mark sheet does not indicate the formula for converting grades to marks, you must also submit a certificate or transcript of your university / institution indicating your marks as converted from your grades.
- Further details about the admission programme will be published from time to time on the web-site and notice-boards. Please follow these notices regularly.

- call on telephone strictly between 9 a.m. and 3.45 p.m. on working days, and may be addressed to Ms. Smita Wadikar or Ms. Sonali Nivangune. The telephone number is 020-25656775. Enquiries made after these hours cannot be replied, and enquiries at residence of the Hostel Rectors or the Principal are positively discouraged.
Information will not be available on any other telephone numbers. Telephone lines are busy during admission times, and we request you to be patient.
K. Candidates from within and outside Maharashtra
University of Pune Circular no. 39 of 2010 prescribes as follows :
“VI) a) MaharashtraState Candidate : means a candidate passing SSC (Std. X) and higher education thereafter from the State of Maharashtra.
b) Maharashtra Domiciled Candidate : means a candidate should be domiciled of the State of Maharashtra.
VII) a) Candidate from Outside Maharashtra State : means a candidate whose domicile status is Outside Maharashtra and has passed his qualifying examination from University outside Maharashtra. He will be eligible for admission as candidate from outside Maharashtra.
b) A candidate whose domicile status is Outside Maharashtra State, but who has passed his qualifying examination from a statutory University in the State of Maharashtra, but has passed his SSC or its equivalent examination from a recognized school outside the State of Maharashtra, will be eligible for admission to an institution which lies in the jurisdiction of the University. He will be considered as candidate from Outside Maharashtra State.
c) A candidate whose domicile status is Outside Maharashtra and who has passed his/her qualifying examination from Pune University but has passed his/her SSC or equivalent examination from outside Maharashtra state, while filling in the application form for admission he/she should indicate their domicile status as “Other than Maharashtra.”
L. Credit System
Credit System has been implemented in LL.M Course since 2014. It has following salient features:
- The Post-Graduate Degree will be awarded to those students who earn the minimum 64 credits. ( 16 credits per semester)
- A minimum of 75 % attendance for lectures / practical is the pre-requisite for grant of term.
- Assessment shall consist of CA-Continuous assessment and ESE(ETE)-End of Semester(Term)Examination with an equal weightage of 50%.
- A student will have to obtain a minimum aggregate of 40% marks in each course to be counted for the minimum number of credits required for the completion of the program.
- There shall be a revaluation of the answer scripts of ESE (ETE) as per Ordinance No.134 A& B, but not of CA.
- A student who wishes to register to the third/fourth semester should have gained at least 50%credits out of the total number of credits offered at the first and second semester of the first year.
- The student will get a Grade Sheet with total grades earned and a Grade Point Average, after earning the minimum number of credits towards the completion of a PG program.
- In addition to the abovementioned credits, a student has to undertake 10 extra credits.

M. Miscellaneous
- Admissions are at the sole discretion of the Principal. No other person has the authority to promise, offer or give admissions.
- All admissions are provisional, to be confirmed by the Principal and Admissions Committee and subject to further approval by the Savitribai Phule Pune University.
- ILS Law College, Pune is an equal opportunity institution. It does not discriminate on the grounds of race, age, religion, caste, sex, disability, colour and origin. It observes the principle of equality as guaranteed under the Constitution of India and other Statutes.
- You must follow the Dress Code on campus. It is given in the Prospectus.
- You must attend at least 75% of total lectures held in each term in the College, as per Ordinance No. 68 of the Savitribai Phule Pune University.
- We provide hostel accommodation on the campus for men and women. Click here to know more about hostels. These applications will be considered after admission is confirmed, subject to availability of rooms. Girls can apply for admission to the hostel after admission is confirmed.
