Recruitment for the Project–Supported Justice Initiatives (2026–2029)
Indian Law Society (ILS), Pune, invites applications from committed professionals for engagement in two newly launched, programmes aimed at strengthening access to justice and improving the quality of legal representation for marginalized communities in Maharashtra.
These are full-time, project-based positions for a period from April 2026 till December 2028.

Programme A
Fair Trial Programme – Kolhapur Central Jail & District Jail
Objective:
To improve access to justice for undertrial prisoners by ensuring timely legal representation, bail support, counselling, documentation assistance, and systemic coordination with prison authorities and legal services institutions.
Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Positions Available
1. Program Manager-Fair Trial (Full-Time) – 1 Post (Salary: 60000-65000) – Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Role & Responsibilities
- Overall coordination and supervision of the Fair Trial Programme
- Liaison with prison authorities, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), judiciary, and panel advocates
- Supervision of Legal Fellows, Social Work Fellows, and administrative staff
- Programme planning, monitoring, reporting, and reviewing
- Ensuring compliance with institutional and donor requirements
- Adhering to Project timelines and ensuring compliance with Project objectives
Eligibility
- Graduate /Post Graduate in Law / Social Sciences / Social Work or allied fields
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in criminal justice, legal aid, prison reform, or social justice programmes
- Demonstrated leadership, coordination, and field-management skills
2. Senior Legal Fellows – 2 Posts (Salary 45000-50000) – Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Role & Responsibilities
- Regular prison visits to interact with undertrial prisoners
- Supervise and mentor Junior Legal Fellows in drafting, documentation, and prison-based legal work.
- Conduct advanced legal review of case briefs, bail applications, and trial-related documentation before submission.
- Identify systemic issues affecting undertrials and contribute to programme-level legal reporting.
- Preparation of case briefs and bail-related documentation
- Coordination with legal aid lawyers and courts
- Case tracking and follow-up
- Legal rights awareness for undertrials
- Assist the Programme Lead in legal monitoring, quarterly reviews, and programme planning.
Eligibility
- Graduate / Post graduate in law
- 5 years and above of trial court experience, preferably in criminal law
- Strong drafting, case analysis, and communication skills
- Willingness to work in custodial settings
3. Junior Legal Fellows- 2 Posts (Salary 35000-40000)-Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Role & Responsibilities
- Regular prison visits to interact with undertrial prisoners
- Preparation of case briefs and bail-related documentation
- Coordination with legal aid lawyers and courts
- Case tracking and follow-up
- Legal rights awareness for undertrials
- Working under the supervision of Senior Legal Fellows and following their instructions for attainment of Project objectives
Eligibility
- Graduate / Post graduate in law
- 2–5 years of trial court experience, preferably in criminal law
- Strong drafting, case analysis, and communication skills
- Willingness to work in custodial settings
4. Social Work Fellows – 2 Posts (Salary 35000-40000)-Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Role & Responsibilities
- Counselling of undertrial prisoners
- Liaison with families for collection of documents
- Preparation of socio-economic assessment reports
- Support for rehabilitation and reintegration linkages
- Rights awareness and psycho-social support activities
Eligibility
- MSW (Master of Social Work)
- Prior field experience in criminal justice, rehabilitation, or community-based work preferred
- Strong interpersonal and documentation skills
5. Administrative & MIS Officer – 1 Post (Salary 22000-25000)-Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Role & Responsibilities
- Maintenance of programme databases and documentation
- Preparation and updation of MIS
- Support in reporting, record-keeping, and coordination
- Assistance in compliance and audit documentation
Eligibility
- Graduate/Postgraduate with experience in programme administration or MIS
- Proficiency in documentation, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
6. Office Attendant -1 Post (Salary 12000-15000)–Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Eligibility
- 12th Pass
- Basic knowledge of photocopying, printing, and scanning documents
Programme B
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) for Young Lawyers in Maharashtra
Objective:
To build professional competence, ethical commitment, and social justice orientation among early-career lawyers through structured, practice-oriented continuing legal education.
Location: Pune (ILS Law College)
Programme Reach: Participants from across Maharashtra
Positions Available
1. Programme Manager-CLE (Full-Time) – 1 Post (Salary 70000-75000)-Location: Pune
Role & Responsibilities
- Overall planning, coordination, and implementation of the CLE programme
- Curriculum drafting, scheduling, faculty coordination, and cohort management
- Liaison with bar associations, resource persons, and civil society partners
- Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
- Adhering to project timelines and ensuring compliance of project objectives
- Ensuring compliance with institutional and donor requirements
Eligibility
- Degree / Postgraduate in Law.
- Preferably 3 years’ experience in programme management, legal education, or training initiatives
- Strong organisational and coordination skills
2. Assistant Programme Manager – 1 Post (Salary 45000-50000)-Location: Pune
Role & Responsibilities
- Support programme planning and logistics
- Coordination of monthly in-person and online sessions
- Participant communication, attendance tracking, and assignment monitoring
- Assistance in documentation and reporting
Eligibility
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Law
- Experience in academic or training programme coordination preferred
Nature of Appointment (Applicable for all above posts)
- Full-time, project-based contractual positions
- Initial appointment for one year, renewable annually based on performance and project requirements
