Recruitment for Azim Premji Foundation–Supported Justice Initiatives (2026–2028)
Indian Law Society (ILS), Pune, invites applications from committed professionals for engagement in two newly launched, Azim Premji Foundation–supported programmes aimed at strengthening access to justice and improving the quality of legal representation for marginalized communities in Maharashtra.
These are full-time, project-based positions for a period from April 2026 till December 2028.
Programme A
Fair Trial Programme – Kolhapur Central Jail & District Jail
Objective:
To improve access to justice for undertrial prisoners by ensuring timely legal representation, bail support, counselling, documentation assistance, and systemic coordination with prison authorities and legal services institutions.
Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
1. Senior Legal Fellows – 1 Posts (Salary 45000-50000) – Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Role & Responsibilities
- Regular prison visits to interact with undertrial prisoners
- Supervise and mentor Junior Legal Fellows in drafting, documentation, and prison-based legal work.
- Conduct advanced legal review of case briefs, bail applications, and trial-related documentation before submission.
- Identify systemic issues affecting undertrials and contribute to programme-level legal reporting.
- Preparation of case briefs and bail-related documentation
- Coordination with legal aid lawyers and courts
- Case tracking and follow-up
- Legal rights awareness for undertrials
- Assist the Programme Lead in legal monitoring, quarterly reviews, and programme planning.
Eligibility
- Graduate / Post graduate in law
- 5 years and above of trial court experience, preferably in criminal law
- Strong drafting, case analysis, and communication skills
- Willingness to work in custodial settings
2. Junior Legal Fellows- 1 Posts (Salary 35000-40000)-Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Role & Responsibilities
- Regular prison visits to interact with undertrial prisoners
- Preparation of case briefs and bail-related documentation
- Coordination with legal aid lawyers and courts
- Case tracking and follow-up
- Legal rights awareness for undertrials
- Working under the supervision of Senior Legal Fellows and following their instructions for attainment of Project objectives
Eligibility
- Graduate / Post graduate in law
- 2–5 years of trial court experience, preferably in criminal law
- Strong drafting, case analysis, and communication skills
- Willingness to work in custodial settings
3. Administrative & MIS Officer – 1 Post (Salary 22000-25000)-Location: Kolhapur, Maharashtra
Role & Responsibilities
- Maintenance of programme databases and documentation
- Preparation and updation of MIS
- Support in reporting, record-keeping, and coordination
- Assistance in compliance and audit documentation
Eligibility
- Graduate/Postgraduate with experience in programme administration or MIS
- Proficiency in documentation, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
Nature of Appointment (Applicable for all above posts)
- Full-time, project-based contractual positions
- Initial appointment for one year, renewable annually based on performance and project requirements
