ILSCA Online Certificate Course on

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR): Practice and Procedure, 2026-27

(29th June 2026 to 29th July 2026)

About the Course:

One of the persistent challenges in the traditional litigation system is the delay in the dispensation of justice. These delays, coupled with procedural complexities, have highlighted the need for effective alternative mechanisms for dispute resolution, collectively known as Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods (ADRMs).

ADR has emerged as a preferred method for resolving disputes in diverse fields such as trade, commerce, business, employment, and family matters. As the legal profession increasingly embraces consensual and efficient dispute resolution processes, the demand for professionals equipped with ADR skills has grown significantly. Recognising this need, the Indian Law Society’s Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (ILSCA), Pune offers intensive skill-based training programmes designed to develop proficiency in arbitration, negotiation, mediation, mediation advocacy and related areas.

The Online Certificate Course in ADR (2026–27) provides participants with a structured introduction to the theory and practice of dispute resolution. The course offers an overview of how arbitration and mediation proceedings are conducted, with reference to the legal framework governing domestic and international commercial arbitration in India, while also providing practical insights into the mediation process.

Designed for students and working professionals from diverse disciplines—not merely those from the legal field—the course seeks to enhance participants’ understanding of modern dispute resolution processes and bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application.

The course focuses on:

  • A brief overview of Contract Law, which forms the legal foundation of most commercial and civil disputes;
  • An introduction to Arbitration and Mediation, the two most widely used ADR mechanisms;
  • The role of Negotiation as an effective tool for dispute prevention and dispute resolution;
  • The legal and procedural framework governing domestic and international commercial arbitration in India; and
  • Practical insights into the conduct of arbitration and mediation proceedings.

Through interactive sessions delivered by experienced practitioners and subject experts, the course aims to equip participants with foundational knowledge and practical exposure to ADR processes, thereby enhancing their professional competence and dispute resolution skills.
