ABOUT AIKYAM 5:0 – STATE-LEVEL LEGAL AID FEST:
The Legal Aid Centre of ILS Law College introduced the Legal Aid Fest in 2022 as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The fest, titled “Aikyam”, symbolizes unity. The inspiration behind the fest was to create awareness on socio-legal themes through creative expression. It encouraged participation from college students across all faculties in the Pune district, providing them a platform to showcase their talents while fostering social consciousness on pressing issues affecting society. In continuation of this vision, the Legal Aid Centre is proud to welcome the Fifth Edition of the Legal Aid Fest in 2026, now being organized at the State level with a brand-new theme. The year 2026 also marks the Golden Jubilee of the Legal Aid Centre, commemorating 50 years of dedicated service from 1976 to 2026. This milestone lends deeper meaning and renewed spirit to this year’s fest, as it reflects five decades of unwavering commitment to socio-legal awareness and access to justice.
Broad Theme: Access to Justice in the Digital Era
Access to justice is a cornerstone of a democratic society, ensuring that individuals can seek legal remedies without discrimination or delay. In the digital era, technological developments such as e-courts, online filings, and virtual hearings have transformed the justice delivery system by improving efficiency, transparency, and reach, particularly for people in remote areas. At the same time, this digital shift brings challenges including the digital divide, limited technological literacy, and concerns over data privacy and fairness. While technology has the potential to make justice more accessible and timely, it must be adopted in a way that balances innovation with inclusivity, equality, and the fundamental principles of justice.
