AIKYAM 5.0: Competition 4: Mock Legal Aid Clinic-Client Counselling


Eligibility

  1. The competition is open only to students pursuing LL.B. (3-year or 5-year) or LL.M. programmes from any recognized university or institution.
  2. Participants shall compete in a team of 2 students.
  3. Only 2 teams would be allowed to participate from each college.
  4. Participation is subject to strict compliance with all rules of the competition.

Rules of the Competition:

  1. The competition shall be held offline at ILS Law College, Pune.
  2. Teams will receive case facts and legal issues in advance.
  3. Teams shall be given upto one hour for preparation before client interaction.
  4. Use of internet-based services or AI tools is strictly prohibited throughout the competition.
  5. Offline reference materials such as statutes, case laws, and legal journals may be used during preparation.
  6. Preparation and client interaction shall be conducted offline only.
  7. Teams shall have a maximum of 15 minutes to conduct the client interview and consultation.
  8. Client interaction shall be observed and evaluated by designated judges.
  9. Language permitted: English, Hindi, or Marathi.
  10. Maximum two teams per college are allowed to participate.
  11. Participation is limited to 20 teams, selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
  12. Client confidentiality must be strictly maintained beyond the competition.
  13. Participation implies acceptance of all rules, including the AI prohibition and adherence to legal ethics and professional conduct.
  14. The client counselling round may involve any one of the sub-topics given below:
  1. Matrimonial Dispute –
    Sub-topics: Divorce, Restitution of Conjugal Rights, Domestic Violence including but not limited to these issues.
  2. Land Dispute –
    Sub-topic: Ownership and Title Disputes, Partition of Ancestral Joint Family Property, Possession and illegal Occupation of Land including but not limited to these issues.

Criteria for Marking : Total Marks 100
