The Seminar is designed to provide a comprehensive platform to address the evolving legal dimensions of the entertainment industry, including intellectual property rights, online gaming, digital privacy, content regulation, and related ethical considerations. This event will convene experts and stakeholders to discuss contemporary challenges and legal frameworks impacting sectors such as fashion, gaming, e-sports, film, and streaming media.

About Indian Law Society:

The Indian Law Society was established in the year 1923 with the aim of advancing legal education in pre-independent India. The Society emerged from the vision of eminent legal luminaries who recognized the critical importance of the rule of law in the upcoming independent and democratic framework of the country. They understood the pivotal role that law plays in sustaining a civil society and believed that the aim of education is the creation of a just and equitable social order that promotes enduring happiness. In 1924, with this profound vision, the Indian Law Society formally established the Law College, Poona, now known as ILS Law College, Pune.

About ILS Law College:

The establishment of the Law College in 1924 by the Indian Law Society was indeed a breakthrough in Indian Legal Education. Being one of the oldest law schools in India, ILS has continued to play a pioneering role in legal education and scholarship. With its illustrious history and heritage, the institution has contributed immensely to the growth of the legal profession and has upheld its tradition of producing meritorious legal scholars who dedicate themselves to public service and reform.

Three Chief Justices of the Supreme Court, Justice P. B. Gajendragadkar, Justice Y.V. Chandrachud, Justice E. S. Venkataramaiah, Former Governor of Maharashtra K. M. Reddy, Former Defence & Finance Minister and First Chief Minister of Maharashtra Y. B. Chavan, Former Minister of Commerce, Mohan Dharia, Former Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Sushil Kumar Shinde and Vilasrao Deshmukh, are few of the eminent alumni of ILS Law College. The College has not kept itself limited to the academic curricula and has always incorporated innovative practices in the form of advocacy skill activities, legal aid, conferences, seminars and various other cells and centres to ensure the holistic development of the students.

About the Seminar:

The entertainment sector is facing heightened scrutiny as digital platforms proliferate and the line between creators, consumers, and distributors blurs. Intellectual property rights, especially copyright, design, and trademark laws, face continuous pressure from issues like design piracy, digital piracy, and unauthorized content distribution, posing threats to innovation and creativity.

This seminar will critically examine how existing legal frameworks adapt—or fail to adapt—to these challenges, especially regarding copyright infringement, design protection, and the unique requirements of the digital age. Additionally, with global consumers demanding accountability and sustainable practices, the seminar will explore the role of intellectual property rights in encouraging environmentally conscious practices in industries like fashion. By fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue, the event seeks to inspire innovative approaches to addressing both immediate legal challenges and the long-term evolution of entertainment law in India and beyond.

Schedule of the Seminar:

11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Session I: Fashion and Law
