ILS Law College, Pune is pleased to announce the annual Raghavendra Phadnis Essay Writing, Case Comment, and Legislative Comment Competition, 2025-26. The competition comprises of three events, i.e. Essay Writing, Case Comment, and Legislative Comment. Students may submit entries for all three, if they choose to. The topics for this year’s competition are as follows:
Essay Writing:
- Sustainable Development under the Indian Constitution: Judicial Innovation and Its Limits
Case Comment:

The submissions should conform to the following guidelines:
- Word Limit: 3000-3500 words (Maximum).
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size (Text) – 12
- Alignment: Justified
- Font Size (Footnotes) – 10
- Line Spacing: 1.5
- Footnoting style – Bluebook 21st Edition
The last date for the submission of the entries is 28 February 2026. All entries must be sent to [email protected] by 23:59 p.m. on that date. The Subject of the Email should state ‘R. Phadnis [Essay Writing/Case Comment/Legislative Comment] Entry’. The attachment should be a word file.
The Winner and Runner up for each category shall be given E-certificates of Recognition, and the winning entries in each category shall be eligible for publication in the ILS Abhivyakti Law Journal (subject to the decision of the editorial board).
All entries are subject to a plagiarism check and shall stand to be disqualified if the similarity index is higher than 25%.
