Course on 'Women, Gender and Law' – 2025-26


Women’s Studies Center, ILS Law College, in collaboration with the Department of Law, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, has organized a Course on “Women, Gender and Law” from 19th January to 29th January 2026. The course timings will be from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm. Students from UNSW, Australia will be coming to ILS to participate in this course.

The Course will cover various Feminist Theories and application of these theories to issues such as violence against women, marriage and family, sex selective abortion, surrogacy, LGBTIQ, political participation, economic empowerment etc. 

The course also has component of a field visit which will be organized during the same period.

Assessment will be based on Assignment (to be completed in classroom) (80 marks) and Class participation (20 marks). A joint certificate from ILS and UNSW will be awarded on successfully completing the Course. The students must attend 100% classes and field visits. Certificate will be given only if all the components are complied with (All Classes, Field Visit and Assignment).

Dr. Christine Forster, Dr. Jaya Sagade, Dr. Varsha Khandagale, along with guest faculty, are the facilitators.

Seats are limited. ONLY 20 STUDENTS from Pune will be selected. The course is open for the students of ILS as well as from other law colleges and law universities in Pune.

Fees for the Course – Rs. 7,000/- only. (Inclusive of reading material, field visit and tea during the course)

The students are required to write a Statement of Purpose (SOP). Students will be selected on the basis of SOP.
