Broad Theme of the Conference : Empowering Governance and Justice through Artificial Intelligence: Balancing Innovation with Accountability
Every year, the Professor S. P. Sathe Foundation, set up by the Indian Law Society, organizes three events at ILS Law College, Pune on a specific theme, with a view to commemorate his contribution to Indian Jurisprudence and Social Action and to encourage the academic pursuits of law students. These three events are: a Memorial Lecture, a Conference, and a Moot Court Competition.
The Remembering S.P. Sathe Conference theme for 2024–25 is “Empowering Governance and Justice through Artificial Intelligence: Balancing Innovation with Accountability.”
Who can Participate:
Any professional, teacher, researcher or student who has experience or research interest in Artificial Intelligence and Law
Call for Papers:
ILS Law College under the auspices of Professor S.P. Sathe Foundation and the Indian Law Society are pleased to invite research papers from law students, academicians, lawyers, activists, and researchers for participation and submission of research papers for the Remembering S.P. Sathe 19th International Conference on ‘Empowering Governance and Justice through Artificial Intelligence: Balancing Innovation with Accountability’. The participants have the liberty to present research papers on original and creative ideas under the umbrella topic as well as selecting any topic relating to the sub-themes mentioned below.

* The sub-themes are indicative; participants may submit papers on any topic beyond the enumerated sub-themes that addresses the main theme of the Conference.
General Instructions for Participants (Attendees & Paper Presenters):
- Each participant must register and pay the registration fees to confirm participation. Last date for registration – 23rd February 2025
- For registration in the ‘students’ category, College / University Photo ID card is mandatory.
Instructions for Participants Presenting Paper:
- Participants presenting paper must submit an Abstract thereof. For submission of the abstract, registration by payment of fees is compulsory. Abstract without registration fees shall not be accepted.
- Only one co-author is permitted. However, if a co-author is not attending the conference, they/she/he need not pay the registration fees.
- Each applicant must submit an abstract of not more than 300 words with the subject “Abstract for 19th Remembering S.P. Sathe Conference”.
- Payment of Registration fees entitle the participants to attend the conference, even in case of rejection of the abstract.
- All participants whose abstracts are selected can present their papers in the Conference.
- Selected papers will be published in ILS Law Review after completing the peer review and other editorial process. ILS reserves the exclusive right to publish the submitted and selected papers.
Paper Submission Guidelines for Participants:
The abstracts shall be submitted in the format given below:
- Name and contact details of author and co- author if any. Institution/Organisation/ Company/ Firm you represent.
- Central idea of the research theme and the core arguments.
- Proposed breakup of the sections of the paper.
- Maximum word limit for the abstract is 300 words. (excluding the details specified above in point 1)
Format of Paper:
- MS Word format with Times New Roman font on A4 size paper and 1” margin on all sides, font size 12 and line spacing of 1.5, text justified.
- References and footnotes shall also be in Times New Roman, 10-point font size and with
1.0 line spacing. - Citations must be in the form of footnotes and conform to the latest edition of the Harvard Bluebook style.
- Word limit for the full paper is 1500 to 3000 words on any of the themes specified above.
- The papers should not be published or presented anywhere else and should be original.
