ILS Legal Aid Centre

The ILS Legal Aid Centre was established in 1976 to impart Clinical Legal Education and social-legal services to the needy and poor segments of the community. The ultimate purpose of the Centre is to harbour a place of innovation and experimentation for the development of effective approaches to the legal education and rendering services. The Legal Aid Centre is working in this direction for the last 43 years with commitment and dedication, and has earned a great reputation for its work.

ILS Gender Study Cell

The Gender Studies Cell (GSC), a Student’s initiative,is launched with the Women’s Studies Center in this academic year to create gender awareness through its various activities amongst the students. GSC  was started in July 2011 with an orientation session that informed the students about the basics of gender, gender identity and the need to challenge normative gender roles.

The Program will  address why gender sensitization is essential. Gender sensitization increases the sensitivity of people towards women and the problems faced by them. It helps eradicate the general perception of men and women on rigid gender division of labour and other orthodox practices related to gender.

The Program further seeks to highlight the issue of sexual harassment at workplace and the provisions of the Act of 2013. Sexual harassment at work place is a common problem affecting women from all professions and on a large scale.  The Program will conclude after a panel discussion by prominent women leaders of today.
