Women’s Studies Center, ILS Law College Course on “Women, Gender and Law”

Women’s Studies Center, ILS Law College, in collaboration with the Department of Law, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, is organizing a Course “Women, Gender and Law” from 13th to 22nd January 2020 between 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm. 20 law students from UNSW will be joining this course at ILS.

The Course will cover various Feminist Theories and application of these theories to issues such as violence against women, marriage and family, sex selective abortion, surrogacy, LGBTIQ, political participation, economic
empowerment etc.

A field visit to SNEHALAYA at Ahmednagar will be organized on 18 th January 2020. There may be another field visit to a local NGO.

Assessment will be based on Assignment and Class participation. A joint certificate from ILS and UNSW will be awarded on successfully completing the Course. The students must attend 100% classes and field visits. Certificate will be given only if all the components are complied with (All Classes, Field Visits and Assignment).

Dr. Christine Forster, Dr. Jaya Sagade along with guest faculty will be the facilitators.

Seats are limited. ONLY 20 STUDENTS from ILS will be selected.

Fees for the Course – Rs. 5000 only. (Inclusive of reading material, tea during the course and field visit.)

Interested students shall apply before 20 th December 2019. List of selected students will be announced on 27 th December 2019. Selected students shall pay the fees before 31 st December 2019.

Note: ILS Students should take note that no attendance credit for the college lectures will be given on the day of visit to Snehalaya at Ahmednagar.
