Course on “Women, Gender and Law” – 2024-25


Women’s Studies Center, ILS Law College, in collaboration with the Department of Law, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, has proposed to organize a Course “Women, Gender and Law” from 20th to 30th January 2025. Students from UNSW, Australia will be coming to ILS to participate in this course.

Topics Covered : Various Feminist Theories and application of these theories to issues such as violence against women, marriage and family, sex selective abortion, surrogacy, LGBTIQ, political participation, economic empowerment etc. 

The course also has component of field visit which will be organized during the same period.

Assessment : It will be based on Assignment (80 marks) and Class participation (20 marks). A joint certificate from ILS and UNSW will be awarded on successful completion of the Course. The students must attend 100% classes and field visits. Certificate will be given only if all the components are complied with (All Classes, Field Visits and Assignment).

Facilitators : Dr. Christine Forster (UNSW), Dr. Jaya Sagade (ILS) and other guest faculty

Seats : Limited. ONLY 20 STUDENTS from ILS will be selected.

Fees : Rs. 7,000/- (Inclusive of GST, reading material, tea during the course and field visit.)

The google form requires you to write a Statement of Purpose (SOP). On the basis of SOP your enrolment for the course is determined.
